Mini Throwback! When your boss, Sir Leonard Lord, of the Morris Company, tells you to wipe those “blasted bubble cars off the road”, design a small car that would transport four adults using as little fuel as possible (considering the oil shortages due to the Suez crisis), Alec Issigonis, had no choice but to reinvent the wheel and create history! Sir Issigonis, decided to, for first time ever, make more room in the cockpit by having the engine mounted transversely, placed the gearbox under the engine, added tiny 10 inch wheels, pushed these wheels all the way out to the corners and voila, in 1959 a little miracle machine just over 10 feet in length was born!! . .
